More quarantine makes! Sinclair Cachet and Rebecca Page Pippa pants

It took all my willpower not to make another dress but I thought that would be sort of ridiculous given I've got so many and I already have a few cut out to sew in hopefully the near future.  I did the next best thing and made separates.  I love the look of a jumpsuit, but honestly, I don't want to get undressed when I have to use the potty.  

I found two patterns and decided these would fit the bill.  I just wish you could feel how unbelievably soft this double brushed poly is I used from Fabric Mart.  It's like wearing pure silk.

Rebecca Page Pippa Stretch Pants

This was also very easy to sew.  I used SewkeysE tape at the neckline, shoulders, pocket, sleeve, and lower hemlines.  On the pants, I only needed it at the lower hem.  This stuff is the miracle of taming knits so they behave properly.  I love this stuff!  

I use my serger for construction which makes this a super fast make.  Literally, this can go together in about an hour from cut out to finishing the last stitch of the hemline.  With CoVID going on and figuring out how to productively WFH, I needed a project like this!  I appreciated a project like this.  

The pants pattern, the Pippa from Rebecca Page is another instant gratification project.  This is the first pair I made, the second pair is the first pair I posted that I made in a metallic ponte.  From everything I've read about this pattern, it seems to work in a variety of fabrics from lightweight poly to heavier weight pontes.

I love this outfit!  It's unbelievably soft and comfortable!

Super comfy outfit!

Hi all!  I hope this finds you and your families healthy and well.  

Since I've been WFH, all I want to make is fun and comfortable clothing.  These pants fit the bill!  Not only are the so comfortable, but with my fabric choice, you can actually wear these for more than lounging at home.  

As you can see, this is a Rebecca Page pattern and these are the Pippa pants.  

I used a mid-weight ponte that's been in my stash for a while for these.  I had just enough and I thought why not?  If I didn't' like them, they can always just be for lounging at home.  Or, I could find them a new home.  

This pattern has two or three pieces depending on the view you choose.  The front/back doesn't have a side seam.  So there's that piece and the waistband.  You can choose between a regular waistband, a fold over waistband and add some cute little side ties if you'd like.  Since I am not going to walk around showing off my midriff, I chose the regular waistband.  

Since there are only two pieces for my view, these were cut out and put together in less than an hour.  I am not a fast sewer and I am not slow, so if you are either, adjust your time commitment accordingly.  With that said, I even did a few extra steps too.  

I did lengthen these just a bit from the pattern.  I believe it was about an inch.  I added SewkeysE tape in 1" at the hem line.  I used a stretch stitch to hem the pants by machine.  

There isn't even elastic at the waistline but know what?  These didn't fall down nor did I feel like they would fall down. Yay!  

Let's talk about my top for a moment.  This is the Cachet relaxed tee by Sinclair Patterns.  I absolutely adore this pattern! 

It has three different pocket variations, a color-blocked version, and it is just right for doing your own thing.  This is another pattern that as soon as I finished my first, I immediately made a second.  This one is made from baby french terry from Sly Fox Fabrics.  This stuff is really wonderful to work with and it sews like a dream!

Rebecca Page Sara Sweater

So I tested another pattern for Rebecca Page.  This is the Sara Sweater.  Here's a link to images of the pattern:

I was so drawn to the line drawing of this.  How cute is it?  

I used a beautiful sweater knit from Telio.  I purchase Telio from Fabricdotcom.  Wow, do I love this brand.  

For the placket, I used a woven cotton fabric for the sweater portion.  Sorry, I should have taken photos of that fabric. For the neckband, it is only the sweater fabric.

This fabric just lays so beautifully. 

With this view, you can get a glimpse of the placket fabric I used.  The placket is non-functional as I decided not to make actual button holes.

I do love the shape of this sweater.  

This sweater was designed as very over-sized so I graded down almost 2 sizes.  Can you imagine how over large this would have been?  

Buttons were from my stash and are silver but lightweight metal.

Rebecca page blouse and skirt

For this post, I have two garments to show you!  I found this beautiful coral colored stretch shirting from Fabric Mart and after deciding I must sew with more color once in a while, I snatched it up. 

It is so beautiful to work with!  I love FMs selection of designer fabrics.  They are such nice quality. 

I chose these two patterns, both from Rebecca Page.

I like the ultra feminine designs of both these garments and the ties on both! 

For the skirt, I found this so pretty metallic suiting and knew it would make a great something.  I finally decided on this cute skirt design.  I ended up lining the skirt with some leftovers from my stash.  It worked beautifully. 

I love lining skirts.  They look so much smoother when worn.  

See how nicely the shirting gathered?

The waist tie is fun.

I am pretty happy with how this turned out!

A warm winter dress! Rebecca Page Hoodie Dress/Top

Hi all!  Happy winter!  Today is the coldest we've had so far this year with an air temp of -17 degree F.  The wind child makes it -34F!  When it's this cold outside, you need some warm cozy clothing.  Here's a new pattern, just released yesterday, from Rebecca Page: 

This is very simply named the Hoodie Dress.  I am a Brand Ambassador for Rebecca Page and I was one of the lucky ones to test this pattern prior to release.  In fact, my version is even on their website under the pattern page!

I used a wonderful fleece I've had in my stash for quite some time from Emma One Sock.  It love how rich the black color is on this.  The black ribbing was also from my stash.  

Rebecca basically holds your hand while you sew showing every single step.  There is also a quick reference sheet you can use if you desire.  That's what I did.  This is such an easy, uncomplicated, yet cute sew!  

If you decide to use the kangaroo pocket, I would definitely stabilize the edges so they don't stretch as you are attaching them to your garment.  For this, I use SewkeysE tape and it works like a dream. 

This mainly goes together on your serger, except for the pocket and the hem on the hoodie.  

I would highly recommend measuring the length of the sleeve prior to sewing.  I know they made adjustments for that after the initial phase, but just to be sure please measure.  Also for reference, I am 5'7".

The Caronlina Dress by Rebecca Page

I had the pleasure of testing another pattern by Rebecca Page.  This is the Carolina Dress and I am quite smitten with it.

I just love the style of this dress and the modest neckline.  Even though this is modest, it's still fun and flattering. 

I just love the fabric I used.  It's a heavish ponte that's been in my stash for a while.  I am glad I waited to use if for this dress, but it's so nice to wear and work with, that I am sort of sad I waited so long!

As you can see, since we are deep into winter, I made the midi length with long sleeves and the flat waistband.

Online, there are some fun color-blocked versions that I'd really like to copy.

This dress has numerous possibilities.

This is the fit right out of the package.

Another pattern review for Rebecca Page...this time it's for a ladies coat.  Here's the pattern image:

From the website, the pattern is described like this:

The Stella coat is a WOW piece… Fully lined and tailored, this adventurous beginner to intermediate level pattern gives you a classically beautiful and flattering garment that can be worn as an extra warm layer or as the hero of your outfit!

Here's my description: This is a slim-fitting coat that fitted in the bust and upper torso.  It flares at the waist line to a dramatic high-low hem skirt.  It's fully lined, has optional welt pockets at the waist, an optional welt pocket at the chest, and an optional back belt.  There's a concealed button asymmetrical button closure at the front.  The lining shows.  

Here's my make: 

I used this orange sheltan wool from Fabric Mart.  I so love this color! 

The lining is from fabric.com and the maker is Telio.  It's a rayon blend and is so lovely! 

This coat has some fun details like the high-low hem and the optional pockets.  I can't imagine making a coat and NOT having pockets.  Where will your keys go?  

When I said this coat is slim fitting, I wasn't kidding.  I feel like it's a tad tight in the upper bodice.  Luckily one of my daughters lives not too far away, and I want her to try this on.  You can also see how the concealed button band lies in this heavy wool.  This probably wasn't the best fabric choice, but sometimes I just like to go big and bold.

The skirt on this is so dramatic! I really do like how the back fits on this.

That all lies really nice.

This coat was a labor of love.  It took time and I am not 100% sold on whether it's right for me.  I may make this again but will need to make some modifications to the pattern.  I felt like the sleeves were a bit small for the armscye.  I should again mention I was a pattern tester and hopefully with the final pattern they adjusted this piece.  If you decide to make this coat, check the pattern measurements and make a muslin.  You'll be glad you did!

Rebecca Page Sonia Skirt

Hi all,

Yes, I've been sewing.  Sewing up a storm actually, but I've been pattern testing and that takes time and you need to wait for the pattern release in order to post.  

Welp, that day has come!  

I was lucky enough to get to make this adorable skirt.  I love this pattern!  It is a fun and fast make and depending on your fabric choice, you can make this super casual or dressy.  It's up to you!  

I used a fabric from my staff.  This is a crepe in a rich print.  I can't remember where I got it but I suspect it was a Fabric Mart purchase.  This fabric was lovely to sew.  I am now a bit sad I waited so long to stitch it up.

This skirt definitely has a swish factor. 

Those little pockets are really nice too.  I made the midi length.  If I had enough fabric, I would have made it longer but I didn't.  With super swishy skirts like this, they are a bit of fabric hogs.

I love the fit of this straight from the package.  I made zero alterations to it.  I simply matched my measurements to the pattern and it fits perfectly.

I also like the belt loops.  Luckily, I had the black textured belt and it works with this quite well.

See how full this is?  I should also mention that I covered my own buttons for this.  I knew the buttons on this had to be special and covering your own was just the right touch.

My top, is the Itch-to-stitch Bellavista top in the softest knit from Sly Fox Fabrics.

  

I've made this top numerous times and I still plan on more.  How's that for an endorsement?  

But back to the fabric...

I found Sly Foxo online and went ahead and purchased the knit in several colors.  I am so happy with how this fabric looks, performs, and feels, that as soon as I make the four or so tops I plan to with what I have in my stash, that I'll order every available color.  It's amazing!

Rebecca Page Isabella Skirt

This was a fun sew for me.  I became a Brand Ambassador for Rebecca Page Patterns and this was my first pattern I tested.  I love the style, the elastic waist, and now I can't wait to see what's in store for me for next month's make!

This is a beginner-friendly pattern.  It has a flat front waist with an elastic back.  The skirt is very full and is floor length.  There's a fun addition of lace or contrast fabric you can highlight as well.  

You pick your size based on your waist.  That as well as the length is all you need to worry about.  

Also, have fun with your fabric choice!  I used this silky print from JoAnns.  Since I wasn't familiar with this pattern company, for my test garment, I didn't want to use something that I spent large bucks on.  This fit the bill, plus it's washable.  I did order the lace from Fabric.Com.  I wasn't sure it would arrive in time for the deadline, but luckily it did! I think it is the perfect addition to the skirt. 

  And, did I mention that after I finished this, I fell so in love that I determined this my make for photos!  Yep, I like it that much.  

There aren't any surprises with this pattern.  It's simple and there is a step by step photo and text.  It's very detailed.  No head scratching with this! 

I also made my tee to match.  This is the Gem Tee by StyleArc.  I've been working on perfecting the fit and I really love how this fits and the color!  Did I mention that I simply love this soft peachy-pink color?
