Saltbox woven top version 1

This summer all I seem to want to sew are woven tees!  When I came across this cute little pattern on Indie Sews, I knew I had to have it.  This is the Saltbox Tee/Tank by Blueprints.  It has a difficulty level of 1 out of 4 and aI agree.

This is very simply described as a tee or tank with asymmetrical pieced bodice and side vents at the hem.  It calls for medium weight fabrics such as quilting cotton, chambray, linen blends, rayon challis or light weight fabrics such as viole, lawn, double gauze, crepe de chine or charmeuse.

I used two fabrics from my stash.  I am so enjoying stash busting these days as I am finding TREASURES!

The yellow floral is a remnant from a previous dress.  The manufacturer is Telio and this rayon feels like silk on your skin.  The white is simply a cotton shirting I picked up when Hancock's was going out of business (insert hysterical crying here over loosing Hancocks!)

This goes together quickly and easily.  To choose your size, you'll need to check out the finished measurement chart included with the PDF and do some flat pattern measurements.  I feel like this is roomy and comfortable without being overly sized.  This fits me well through the shoulders.  I went down a size after doing some measurements and am glad I did.

I can see more of these in my summer.  I especially want to make this cute sleeveless version with a chiffon or lace inset.  How cute would that be?

Cashmerette Webster top

Today for you I have another top!  This time, I made the pattern shown below:

Webster Cashmerette Sewing Pattern

Last summer, I made another one of Jenny's patterns and so love it!  In fact, I loved it so much, I purchased this pattern shortly afterwards.

Here's the first make from this designer:

And, here's my dress!

I felt like the dress above fit perfectly.  I made the exact same size for the top I am about to show you and while I love my fabric, I'm just not sure about the fit.

See what I mean about the fabric?  I love it!

The highlight of course is the back.  That's such a fun detail.

Couple of things that are great about this pattern--
No gaping at the armscyes.
The front is low, but not too low.
The length is great!

I love this with my RTW yellow pants.

The curved, longer back hem is nice as well.

A fast sew.  I am just not entirely sold on the fit.  It's roomy, but maybe I am being too picky.

True Bias Ogden Cami

Remember when I mentioned I was trying to scrap bust?  Welp, here's another project that does just that!

This is the Ogden Cami by True Bias. It's been well reviewed and well loved in the sewing community.  Now that I've made one, I can totally see why!

Image of OGDEN CAMI (PDF)

This has classic styling, looks good on a variety of shapes and sizes and is such a workhorse in your wardrobe!   Image from True Bias site.

My version is made from Viole.  This fabric is from My Sewing Shoppe in Baton Rouge. I think it is the perfect weight for this.

While this is a bit low-cut, it works for date night or with a little cami or jacket for work.

No side boob shows!  Great little pattern!
I'll be making more!

Another Olive...

Yep, I made another.  I am trying to do some reorganizing as I my hubby is creating a more light-filled sewing space for me in another room in my home.  This will be a good thing.  There's a spacious closet and the presence of more light is so appealing to me.

That, however leaves me with a lot to go through to make sure I truly want/need it or do I use it now and get it out of the way.  Some of the remnants are so precious to me that I am trying to use them now so they don't get lost, misplaced, or accidently tossed.

Today, I made another SA Olive Spliced tee.  I really love how this pattern fits me.

I am such a sucker for a woven tee.  This can be made from either a knit or a woven.  Patterns that do double duty have a special place in my heart!

I just adore the navy viole print.  I made a skirt and top from it and when I've worn it, people have stopped me to ask about my outfit. That always makes a sewer happy!

This pattern fits me really well and I can totally see making more in the future, especially with long sleeves for fall.

I was also pleased I had enough to make a bias band for the neckline as I think it is the perfect finishing touch.  This navy print was originally purchased on a trip to see my daughter in Baton Rouge.  The store name is My Sewing Shoppe.

The tealish solid is from my stash.  While this isn't a remnant, the color is perfect.  I can see making a cute little kimono out of it for a light layer this summer.

Closer up of the neckband!

Jalie Julia--great way to practice FOE skills!

Want to practice FOE?  This is a great pattern for it!

From the website:
A: Swing camisole with rounded v-neck and racer back. B: Racerback, pull-on lined bralette with wide under-bust band. Lined with self-fabric or power net, depending on your desired level of support. The cami and bralette are both finished with fold over elastic. C/D: Panties with crossover illusion, fold over elastic finish and choice of high (C) or low waist (D).

This is a super easy Cami pattern.  It's literally two side seams, a hem, and FOE at the edges.

I live the shape of this with the A-line or swing style.

So here's my version. This textured from my stash was a great drapey choice for this.  It isn't much of a stretch of the imagination from the cover photo.

The FOE was from a kit I purchased on ETSY.  It was a grab bag of Lingerie Elastics and I had the perfect length of it to make this top.

For Jalie, you use your Full-Bust measurement and it works.

I really love the back. I am wearing a strapless bra that isn't the most flattering on me but it's comfortable and it fits. It kept me nice and cool on this hot and humid day.

I see more of these in my future!

Olive, round 2

See, I told you there would be another Olive Spliced Tee from StyleArc.  Here's my latest version.  This time I used a knit.

All three fabrics were remnants from other projects.

The floral, is a Cotton and Steel knit.  It is soft as can be and sews like a dream.

The black and white a Stof.  I so love their knits.

My only deviation from the pattern was to make a patch pocket instead of the inseam pocket.

I am pretty pleased with my make!

Summer sewing--StyleArc Olive Spliced top

I think it's safe to say that I simply love sewing dresses.  However, you can only have so many summer dresses, especially when you only work part of the summer.  I am dedicating the next week or so to simply sewing tops.  I need them for casual wear and to wear with skirts or pants.  Today, I made this top by SA:

This is the Olive Spliced top.  You can make it in either a light woven or a knit.  I chose a white linen for my version.

And, here it is!

I love this top!  It feels breezy and who doesn't love a crisp white top for summer?

I love all the seaming on this.  When SA named this the 'spliced top' they were exactly right!

Yep, the back mimics the front.  I chose to topstitch my seams, just because I really like to topstitch.

This is a great length, not too short and not too long.

Here you can see the neckband.  The directions call for the neckband being cut on the grain but looking at the neckline and how shaped it is, I knew it needed cut on the bias.  I wasn't wrong.

Thanks for reading and I hope you are getting some summer sewing done!
